In Canada, it is estimated that 16% or every 1 in 6 couples experience infertility*. These numbers have doubled since the 1980s. Infertility can be defined as the inability to conceive despite having sexual intercourse without contraception for more than a year. The reasons for infertility can vary as per age, gender and medical history. It can be either due to a single partner but more often is a combination of both.
CReATe Fertility London will work with you to understand individual challenges which may include – age-related issues, hormonal imbalances, problems producing eggs, improper sperm production, uterine anomalies (fibroids, polyps), sexually transmitted infection, genetic predispositions or structural anomalies, blocked or missing fallopian tubes, endometriosis, early menopause, to list a few.
Your treatment options may include:
Same-Sex female couples seeking to conceive would require a sperm donor. Donor inseminations are achieved using both - anonymous donor sperms from a bank, or sperm from a person selected by you. If an anonymous donation is needed, CReATe works with several sperm banks who can assist you to locate your perfect donor. If the person providing the eggs for pregnancy will not be becoming pregnant or if donor sperm insemination isn't successful, then IVF may be required.
If the partner providing the egg decides to get pregnant, then Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) can be chosen as the fertility treatment procedure. In this case, the donor sperm will be introduced in the uterus of the chosen partner. Opting for a third party service (sperm/egg donation) is a challenging process. CReATe provides you access to a social worker and psychological counselors for support.
Your options may include:
Same-Sex Male Couples trying to start a family will need an egg donor and a surrogate – gestational carrier for the pregnancy. The egg donation can be made by a known party (family member or friend) or can be anonymously selected through approved agencies. CReATe provides you access to numerous agencies for the process. You will also have to decide whether you want to make embryos from either partners’ sperm, or both.
The next decision that you need to make is who will be the gestational carrier or surrogate – the person who will carry the baby in her womb during the pregnancy. Please note that the surrogate will not be contributing any genetic material to the child. The surrogate can be a known party (family member or friend) or can be anonymously selected through CReATe connected approved agencies.
Third-party involvements can often tend to be stressful and may involve you to consider numerous psychosocial aspects. CReATe provides you access to a social worker and psychological counselors for support.
